Key Features
of Rite Idler Rolls

At Rite Idler, we understand that value in bulk material handling is measured by achieving the lowest cost per ton to move your product effectively and reliably. Conveyors are engineered to handle specific weights, volumes, speeds and distances and not all idlers are created equal. We set ourselves apart by constructing products designed to outlast standard idlers.

 Exceptional Bearing Protection and Lubrication

The most critical component in any idler is the bearing. Bearing contamination leads to seizing followed by shell wear and, if not caught in time, sharpened steel roll edges coming into contact with the belt. The primary focus of our design is protecting the bearings from contamination. Our design incorp                                                           orates unique seals to not only prevent contaminant ingress to the bearings from outside the roll but also from inside the roll. This design results in enhanced bearing life which translates into longer roller life and consequently lower operating costs.

Our advanced sealing system includes seven distinct components, ensuring extensive protection:

  • Four seals between the bearing and roll end

  • Three seals between the bearing and the interior of the roll

Unlike competitors who use sealed-for-life bearings, our configuration permits the injection of a significantly larger volume of high-quality grease, entirely filling the bearing cavity. This results in 10 to 15 times the grease volume found in rolls using sealed-for-life bearing.

Construction Features

    • Heavy ERW tubing is standard, providing strength and durability.
    • Shafts are precision-machined to provide an interference fit of the bearings, eliminating fretting and the metal fragment contaminants that can result. These machined surfaces also ensure a clean fit of our nylon contact seals.
    • Endcaps are precision machined on two surfaces. The bearing pockets are machined to provide an interference fit to the outside race on the bearing. The endcap’s outer lip is machined to provide a concentric fit into the counter bored tube end minimizing roll TIR.
    • Rear nylon contact seals offer additional protection against contamination from the interior of the roll.
    • Nitrile V-ring contact seals block off the greasing ports to further protect against contamination.
    • Machined shaft ends thread into our shafts to match the competitor's dimensions allowing Rite Idler rolls to fit other manufacturers' frames and brackets without the need for clumsy adaptors.
    • Open-faced deep groove ball bearings that exceed the load ratings set by CEMA.

  Enhanced Performance and Alignment

    • Endcaps recessed into roll end and fillet welded thus preventing end cap separation.
    • Seven-component seal system prevents contamination ingress into the bearings from both the exterior and interior of the roll.

 Versatile Roll Materials

    • Rolls available with a variety of coatings including vulcanized rubber, urethane sleeves and ceramic impregnated resin coating to accommodate a wide range of operational environments and requirements.

Shaft and Roll Options

    • Standard 6” and 7” diameter rolls have a robust .250” wall thickness.
    • Standard 4” and 5” diameter rolls have a .150” wall thickness, with an option for .250” wall thickness for 5” diameter rolls.
    • Composite shafts. Shaft for rolls 13” in length and shorter are made from solid steel bar. Longer rolls are fabricated with a composite shaft consisting of hollow pipe with precision machined plugs welded into each end. This shaft design is lighter and subject to less bending under load thereby reducing deflection at the bearings.
    • Drilled and tapped holes in ends of all shaft allows precision machined ends to be threaded to exactly match a competitor’s roll dimensions.

Improved Frame Design

    • Rigid angled foot straps prevent bending and twisting, aiding frame alignment and facilitating easy belt tracking adjustments.
    • Progressively widening gaps in end brackets reduce material entrapment, further enhancing conveyor efficiency and reliability.

At Rite Idler, our dedication to engineering excellence ensures that our products deliver outstanding performance, superior durability, and the lowest operational cost per ton, making Rite Idler rolls the intelligent choice for your conveyor system.
